IWPA Medals |
The list that follows is a yearly list where it is applicable, of IWPA (International Weight Pull Association) regional medals won by Cascade Kennel dogs. We are very proud of these dogs. Many of these dogs were dogs we produced and sold as puppies who then, through hard training and persistence by their owner and the dog themselves, grew up to become regional medallists and some went on to one of the ultimate goals of winning an International medal. Winning a regional medal is not an easy task in itself. To win a regional medal you must place in the top three places in your respective weight class. To do this you must go to pulls and compete against other malamutes and other breeds and mixed breeds. The season runs from the first of November until the last day in March. You earn 5 points for a first and 3 points for a second and 1 point for third plus you get a point for every dog you beat. At the end of the season they tally the points and you are allowed to keep the best 5 pulls that you scored the most points at. After the tally the top three dogs earn medals, the top dog earns a gold, second gets a silver and third a bronze regional medal. The regions consist of a cluster of states and provinces that fall within that region. Region 2 that we are located in consists of Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Hawaii and British Columbia Canada. So winning a regional medal is quite an accomplishment. Here is a list of Cascade Kennel regional medallist’s. It will list the region they earned their medal in, what weight class they earned their medal in. The dogs name and then the venue of which they earned that medal, you can earn a medal in either snow or wheels. Then the color of medal earned, gold, silver or bronze. |

IWPA Medals |
To be invited to the IWPA International Championships you must place 1st, 2nd or 3rd in your region for the season for your specified weight class. You then have the opportunity to pull against the top three dogs in the other 11 regions across the United States and Canada. Regions bid for the opportunity to host the nationals, so they bounce around from year to year. Here is a list of Cascade Kennel International Medalists and the year they achieved it. |
